On October 18, the UZCARD Academy Welcome Day was held at the U-ENTER coworking center—an open house for a new educational platform created by the UZCARD payment system to train young specialists in financial technology and business.
The event brought together students from leading universities, representatives of UZCARD, and Lerna, UZCARD Academy’s partner in learning and development. As part of the program, UZCARD and Lerna signed a memorandum of cooperation, establishing a strategic partnership in digital education and talent development for the fintech industry.
“Cooperation with UZCARD Academy is an opportunity to combine the experience of a technology company with next-generation educational approaches. We aim to build programs that help students quickly move from theory to practice and develop skills demanded by the market,” said Emil Timoshev, CEO of Lerna Uzbekistan.
“It is important for us to help young people make informed career choices and find themselves in the fintech industry. UZCARD Academy gives them hands-on experience that cannot be obtained at university alone and reveals the real side of their future profession,” emphasized Yulia Tsapkova, Deputy CEO for HR at the management company “UCMG” LLC.
Programs of UZCARD Academy are developed jointly with experts from UZCARD and Lerna and cover two core fields: “Technology & Product” and “Business & Support”.
In the technical field, participants study the basics of product and project work, systems analysis, and modern IT areas: Front-End and Back-End development, data analysis, DevOps, testing (QA), information security, and infrastructure operations.
The business field covers marketing (including digital and PR), project and product management, risk analysis, compliance, finance, and HR practices. Special attention is given to communication between technology and business teams, helping students see how real fintech products are created and evolve.
The program structure includes two months of theory and three months of practice within the UCMG ecosystem. Top graduates will have the opportunity to undertake internships and employment within one of the holding’s 12 companies.
Training at UZCARD Academy is free and available to students up to 25 years old. Formats include online and offline; admission is through testing. The Academy operates year-round with rolling intake.
During Welcome Day, participants also passed an initial selection: based on test results and interviews, candidates with the best performance will be invited to the Academy. For others, the doors remain open—the next intake starts in January, offering a new chance to apply.
The UZCARD Academy project is building a sustainable educational system where the interests of students, business, and technology intersect. It is a step toward systematic talent development for Uzbekistan’s digital economy—and toward a future shaped by those ready to learn, act, and change reality.
