Agreement signed in Samarkand sets the stage for collaboration to expand acceptance, cross-border capabilities, and enhanced cybersecurity capabilities.
SAMARKAND, Uzbekistan — “Common Republican Processing Centre” JSC (operating under the UZCARD brand), the national payment system, and Mastercard, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the continued development of payment infrastructure and digital financial services in Uzbekistan.
The collaboration was announced in Samarkand during 59th ADB Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB),bringing together leaders from the financial sector and technology industry The MoU outlines the parties’ shared intent to explore collaboration across several priority areas, including expanding payment acceptance, enhancing cross‑border payments, and identifying opportunities for joint initiatives in fintech and value‑added digital services. The collaboration will also focus on strengthening cybersecurity to safeguard the digital ecosystem in the country.
