UZCARD at Financial Inclusion Week 2026

The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a session titled “Enabling Innovation, Expanding Access: The Experience of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan” as part of Financial Inclusion Week 2026, with the participation of the UZCARD payment system.

During the discussion, representatives of the Central Bank and financial market participants explored how regulation, digital infrastructure and innovation can help advance financial inclusion. The session examined four practical examples from Uzbekistan: interoperability between the UZCARD and HUMO payment systems, open banking, an AI-based alternative creditworthiness assessment system, and a regulatory sandbox.

The discussion also demonstrated how innovations are developed and implemented in Uzbekistan’s financial sector, and how cooperation between regulators and market participants helps expand access to financial services.

Participants included Dilbar Abduganieva, Jamshid Usmanov, David Melikidze, Shokhpur Gulturaev and Sheruan Bashar.

Financial Inclusion Week, organised annually by the Center for Financial Inclusion at Accion, is one of the leading international forums dedicated to inclusive finance. The 2026 event took place on October 5–8 under the theme “Inclusive Innovation: Building Financial Systems That Work for Everyone” and brought together more than 3,000 participants and over 300 expert speakers from around the world.
