On September 29–30, Urgench will host the next stage of CyberWeek 2.0—a joint initiative of UZCARD, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Association of Mahallas of Uzbekistan.
The project aims to improve the population’s digital literacy, prevent cyberfraud, and foster a culture of safe use of digital financial services. The first day will be geared toward representatives of the banking sector, while the second will consist of seminars for mahalla representatives.
The relevance of this work is particularly evident at the regional level. According to data from the Khorezm Region Internal Affairs Department, 2,723 crimes were recorded in the region during the reporting period of 2026, more than 56% of which were committed using information technology. The department notes that crime is increasingly shifting to the digital sphere, making prevention and modern approaches to ensuring security particularly important.
CyberWeek is being held for the second year. In 2025, regional events for the project took place in Fergana, Samarkand, Nukus, and Bukhara, and in 2026, the program continued in Karshi and Namangan. The project brings together government agencies, the financial sector, the Association of Mahallas of Uzbekistan, and the expert community to raise awareness of modern cyber threats and disseminate practical knowledge on the safe use of digital services.
The regional format of CyberWeek allows for the systematic expansion of preventive efforts: professional collaboration in the field of financial cybersecurity is complemented by educational initiatives aimed directly at residents of the regions.
