Digital Literacy Without Borders: UZCARD and the Ministry of Internal Affairs launch a nationwide campaign

UZCARD and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced the launch of a large-scale information and education campaign aimed at improving digital literacy and protecting citizens from cyber fraud. The programme will cover four regions and will include face-to-face training sessions, a series of videos, podcasts and a competition to create digital security solutions.

The initiative aims to create and develop a culture of digital security and cyber hygiene across the country.

The campaign will provide attendees with practical knowledge on key digital security topics:

– how to recognise phishing sites and fake payment services

– how to protect their accounts with complex passwords and two-factor authentication

– how not to become a victim of social engineering (deception through calls, messages and social networks)

– how to safely use mobile applications for banking and shopping

The campaign is expected to reach over one million citizens, including both offline training audiences and users engaged through digital channels.

‘Digital literacy and cybersecurity are the foundation for sustainable development of modern society. We expect that other companies and organisations will join this initiative to jointly promote the importance of digital security and expand the reach of such educational events’,

– Nurzhau Bolatbek, Deputy CEO of UCMG in Information Security.

‘Digital fraud is becoming increasingly sophisticated and our challenge is not just to respond to threats, but to work proactively.

Together with UZCARD, we aim to create a culture of digital security where every user knows how to recognise risks and protect their data.’

– representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The training programme includes:

  • Face-to-face trainings – two-day modules designed for a wide audience and IS professionals.
  • Social videos – 10 dynamic videos on popular fraud schemes filmed with experts.
  • Podcasts – live discussions with industry representatives and law enforcement agencies.
  • Educational competition – to develop prototypes of solutions to protect against digital threats.

The programme is accompanied by an information campaign with the participation of regional media, bloggers, as well as the release of merchandise and handouts. All events will be covered in the official channels of UZCARD and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the organisers, the key result of the partnership will be the formation of a digital security culture among the population, which will significantly reduce the risks of fraud, identity theft and other types of threats.
